Privacy Policy
Last Modified: August 19, 2026
Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Geographic Scope
The Black Trust Fund platform is intended for US residents. Our services, community standards, and compliance framework are designed for US law and regulation.
We do not intentionally collect data from residents of the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom. If you are accessing this platform from the EU, EEA, or UK, please be aware that our privacy practices are designed for US compliance (CCPA) and may not meet all requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
By using this platform, you confirm that you are a US resident.
1. Data We Collect
We collect: your name, email, phone number, payment information (via our payment processing service), case submissions, proof documents, birthday (for internal administrative profiling), and platform activity. Birthday is used solely for internal member intelligence and personalization—never for funding eligibility decisions.
2. How We Use AI
TBTF uses AI internally for case pre-screening assistance, outreach timing optimization, compliance monitoring, and platform analytics. AI does not make final funding decisions—humans do. AI-based profiling exists for platform personalization only, not for determining who receives funding.
3. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies for site functionality, authentication, payment security, and analytics. We use analytics and session recording software for session replays and behavioral analytics to improve the member experience. This software may collect information about your device, browser, IP address (anonymized), pages visited, and screen recordings (with sensitive fields masked). Session replays help us identify bugs and improve usability. You can opt out of analytics cookies and session replays through our cookie preferences, accessible via the cookie notice or the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our footer. Necessary cookies (authentication, security) and payment processing cookies cannot be disabled as they are essential for the platform to function.
4. Data Sharing
We share data with our payment processing service, SMS delivery service, email delivery service, analytics and session recording software, and error monitoring service. We never sell your data. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect platform integrity.
5. AI-Assisted Case Review
We use artificial intelligence technology to help classify case submissions against our funding policy. Limited case details (purpose, category, amount) are processed, without your name, email, phone, or payment information. This helps ensure fair, consistent policy application. Low-confidence classifications are always reviewed by a human before any funding decision is made.
6. Your Rights (CCPA)
California residents have the right to: know what data we collect, request deletion (with exceptions for legal/audit retention), opt out of data sales (we don't sell data), and non-discrimination for exercising these rights. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at legal@theblacktrustfund.com.
7. Data Retention
We retain member data while your account is active and for 7 years after cancellation for audit and compliance purposes. See our Data Retention Notice for details.
8. Cancellation Data and Exit Survey Responses
TBTF may collect and store cancellation reasons and related account-offboarding data, including responses that may indicate financial hardship or other personal circumstances, for internal analytics, product improvement, customer support, and retention outreach. TBTF may retain such data for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law or needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or maintain compliance records. TBTF may use this information to send personalized follow-up communications, including courtesy resubscription outreach, subject to applicable law and any required opt-out rights. TBTF does not sell exit-survey responses.
